Microsoft: Kinect cannot read sign language

Microsoft has rubbished rumours that Kinect will be able to read sign language, which were sparked after a patent for such a system was spotted online. Kinect will definitely not support sign language recognition in any way.

Kinect to recognise sign language

Microsoft’s patent suggests its new motion controller will be able to identify and translate American Sign Language, reports reveal. The new patent details ‘Gesture Keyboarding’ for the new Xbox add-on suggests ASL could be used to communicate with other players online.
